Romney’s Turn
Romney – Oh where do I begin. First off, Romney was elected governor of Massachusetts. That’s Massachusetts, the same state that continually re-elects that American Dionysus. That automatically makes him suspect to my conservative eyes. His position on abortion has changed from choice to life. Now, I wouldn’t hold that against him if he was consistent in saying advances in technology has given him a new perspective. So far, I haven’t heard that. Now, if he has said it I may have missed it. But I don’t think that’s his position.
The combined state and local tax burden in Massachusetts increased during Romney’s governorship. According to the Tax Foundation, that per capita burden was 9.8% in 2002 (below the national average of 10.3%), and 10.5% in 2006 (below the national average of 10.8%).
Romney also signed legislation that forced nearly everyone to participate in the state run health insurance program or be heavily penalized. I’m not into socialized medicine. I think the first step in insurance reform is an investigation. We are all about it when it comes to “big oil”, but where are we when it comes to health care – we want it given “free.”
He has been inconsistent in his position on same-sex unions. I have my own position on this. Just as a reverend or preacher title is reserved for those who serve specific positions within religion, I believe the term “marriage” should be reserved for those who are of opposite sex. I have no problem with a legal contract or ‘civil union’ or any other term you may want to use.
His inconsistencies extend into the Second Amendment area.
I do think he is being unfairly treated related to his LDS faith. I have a friend, a former co-worker, who practices that religion. Although we never got into deep conversations about the LDS, she would answer any questions I had. I never felt she was a cultist, never considered her ‘weird’ and her husband didn’t have seven wives and twelve eyes. The only thing I found odd was the large difference in ages. She is only a couple years older than her step-children, but you see that in traditional relationships of every faith.
While I don’t agree with much about Romney, I almost bet his personal life can past d*mn near any test you can throw at it. There would only be one definition of the word “is”, we wouldn’t have to worry about blew dresses or raspberry berets, nor would there be bimbo-eruptions necessitating blowing up aspirin factories in Iraq.
So, that’s my two cents on Romney. Nothing exciting. But then he’s nothing exciting to me anyway.

Yeah, Romney’s campaign is a disaster. Did you see this recent episode in which an Associated Press reporter went on the attack? This video is going to be circulating all over the place for days.

Romney, to me, is the Hilary Clinton of the Republican campaign.

Good job on your write-up. Thanks for sharing. I still don’t like him and have new reasons to think about now.
