Schoolwork and Snoring Cats.
Trying to fit everything in to my days is getting increasingly more difficult. I’m sure some of it is do to avoidance. Well, maybe avoidance is a bit strong. Being overwhelmed is more likely the reason.
I’ve been trying to work on homework for a couple hours already this morning. Since I’m enrolled in a 90% online course, I have to do a bunch of posting on a dedicated board for the class. Some days it’s rough because you never know for sure when the other class members have time to post, so you have to check in frequently. You have to check in because you get graded on the amount of participation as well as the quality of your comments. You can’t get away with “Great post, I agree!” You have to make a contribution.
This week there is an online video that my team has to review. In order to do that I had to download software. I hate that. I download this stuff for the course and then end up not needing it. But, I have to do it because we’re required to head up a class dialog on the topic.
There is also a research paper we have to do. I’m struggling with mine. I have to submit my draft methodology paper by Tuesday …. I don’t have it started. I have to do that today. I hate doing these papers in steps like this. It reminds me of algebra class in Jr. High. I could get the correct answer without going through all the steps, but I had to show all the steps.
I know, I know, it’s important to show a full understanding of the process. Plus, it’s easy to make a mistake and showing the work will help you find it. I enjoy writing, but I don’t enjoy this.
Where do the snoring cats come in? Well, that’s easy. Normally they aren’t allowed in my bedroom (that’s where I do my homework). But, when I’m doing homework through the day I leave the door open so I can hear someone knock at the front door. The cats sleep at the foot of the bed while I study. They both make noises when they’re asleep, but one seems to snore.
I can tell when it’s time to get up and stretch. The cats roll over and go back to sleep.
