Welcome To The World, Princess!

Oh I’m so excited!  My brand new grand-niece arrived yesterday morning at 9:40!  She’s a whopping 6lb 4oz and 19″ long.

The doctor prodded her into the world a couple weeks early.  Her mom was having some issues with blood pressure and ’stuff’ and it was felt to be the best thing.  They originally set her up to have natural childbirth, but things weren’t going as anticipated so they opted for the C-section yesterday morning.

I got to go in with her.

The C-section is vastly different.  With normal childbirth you don’t get so excited about what people are wearing.  I had to don a bio-hazard suit to be in there.  I understand, of  course, because with this you are slicing into the body exposing parts to the air that normally wouldn’t be.  The chance of causing infection is astronomical.

This child is the first for my favorite niece.  My sons have not yet produced any grand-children for me to spoil, and that’s GREAT at this point in their lives.  So, I will dote on this little princess as much as I can.

Mom is doing fine so far.  She was allowed up this morning.  The little princess is just too cute and cuddly!  She isn’t a fretful baby yet.  Enjoy her first photos!
