No Parking - Loading Zone
Some days all seems right with the world!
A couple times a week I drop someone off at work downtown. On those days I like to swing into Capitol Roasters for a treat. This morning, more than my tastebuds got something worth smiling over.
I pulled into a parking spot along Summers Street at a meter. You don’t have to feed meters until 8:00 a.m. so I had a good 1/2 hour to goof off without worry. My passenger and I walked across the street and two small cars pulled into the loading zone in front of Roasters and Inta-Juice. My passenger commented that they couldn’t park there, but I said “Sure they can. They’re environmentalists. See all the stickers on their cars. They are ’special’. They don’t have to abide by the rules that everyone else does.” I also commented that their protest stickers are made by the same petroleum products they lobby against.
They were behind us going into Capitol Roasters.
So, I’m paying for my order and what do my wondering eyes do I see? A City of Charleston traffic guy. [Not sure if it was 'meter maid' or what.] This cat was wearing his official orange net vest and WRITING A TICKET! It gets better …. he tickets BOTH vehicles!
I was in hog heaven! Seldom do I get to see people get their rewards, but this morning was one of them.
Had I been in my other vehicle I would have had my camera. But, really it wouldn’t have mattered. By the time I got into my bomb the meter guy was hopping in his S-10 looking vehicle and off.
If you are simply running in for a coffee that early in the morning is it NOT difficult to find a parking space. I’ve never had to park a full block away anytime I arrive between 7 & 8 in the morning. And for all the enviornmental stickers on the vehicles, you’d think they would not be opposed to WALKING a block to conserve fuel and set the good example. But, I’m sure they were whining about how ‘unfair’ it was for them to be ticketed when they were just running in and back out.
Sometimes the little victories are so sweet!

People of all political persuasions have gotten parking tickets. I’m sure that no political movement has a monopoly on parking tickets.
Be that as it may, I’ve replied to you on my blog and would be interested in your further response. I would like to have a reasonable discussion with you about the relevant facts and evidence, if you are up to it.

The self-righteous f*#@& deserved everything they got. The meter maid should have gone inside and broken their oh-too-cool hipster glasses too.
Edited for language.
