Border Photos

A few photos from the weekend.

This is a trike in the parking lot of the Beckley Omlette Shoppe.  It was really awsome!  Special order from Las Vegas.

A shot of my host and friends playing some killer blues.  Also a shot of a great old house along the road to the doins.
  The farm pond from [...]

Border Running

Over the weekend I decided to have some fun, instead of focusing on housework and getting my home office space re-organized for really working, instead of looking for work.

Friday I had to travel to Weston for the last committee meeting I will have with my current employer.  Instead of coming straight back I went [...]

Experience the Music

Mind altering drugs, such as alcohol, can relax the body and allow you to experience the full emotion of the music.
There is no tension to interfere and you can feel the music through to your very soul.   The music echoes through your mind like a fabulous concert hall. The reverberations rattle the inner core of [...]

State of the State …

I stopped for a grande mocha latte this morning (whoopee) and picked up a copy of The West Virginia Record, a legal journal serving all of West Virginia.  There were a couple headlines that caught my eye.
The first was McGraw gives OxyContin money to Morgantwon truancy agency.  The short version is that our state attorney [...]

Contacts …

Lord help me.
Once again I went to the eye doctor for a regular exam and asked about contact lenses.  Now, I know better than this.  The air in the building where I work [for only five more week days] is so crappy that within 10 minutes of sitting in my office I can barely focus.
I [...]

Touching Base – 3

I have a little extra time this morning. I have an eye exam at 8:15 so I don’t have to make the trek in first thing.
So, whilst I’m breaking fast on some fat –free cottage cheese and tomatoes, let me touch base with some of the blogs I read. They will be done alphabetically, not [...]

Libertarian Viewpoint

I stopped in Capital Roasters this morning, as has become my habit since I started dropping my niece off for work, and picked up a copy of the Libertarian Viewpoint publication.
I figured it would be an interesting publication to read.  I like to read things like this on occassion to keep my perspective.  I am [...]

Two Years Too Late

Good grief.
I’m in Beckley today and tomorrow for committee meetings.  They have them every quarter, sometimes more often if needed, but no less.
So, I sat through my two committees and found a quiet space to key my minutes.  (I SuperWrite them then key into Word documents later.)  And my supervisor comes to drag me to [...]

While I’m there …

Since I’m snooping on Create WV, here’s an interesting link on libraries putting in coffee shops.

Free Wi-Fi for the Peasants Courtesy of King Danny

Just a quick post and link.
Recently, the City of Charleston decided it would be a great idea to provide free Wi-Fi to the community of the East End.  It was announced with such bravado that you would think it is the ultimate solution for the problems plaging that area.
The blog at Create WV comments on [...]
